Buckinghamshire Economic Partnership liaises with the Bank of England's Agent for the South-East, Chris Bailey to organise regular lunches with key industry and commerce sector representatives. This flow of information allows the Monetary Policy Committee to gain a greater understanding of the constraints and demands placed on business in the current economic climate, and may influence decisions taken by the MPC when setting the monthly interest rates.

Via this close collaboration with the South-east office BEP has been fortunate to have secured Kate Barker from the Monetary Policy Committee to speak at a Business Leaders event in 2005, and we were instrumental in organising a visit to Bucks by the Governor, Mervyn King in December.
