Buckinghamshire is noted for its enterprise culture with a higher than the national average number of new businesses starting up each year. Buckinghamshire's economy is presently worth around £5.6bn pa.a The key areas of growth have been in financial and business services and there is a strong public services and health sector. Manufacturing continues to be an important sector for the County, employing more than 1 in 10 workers. 

Situated in the centre of the Oxford to Cambridge (O2C) Arc www.oxford2cambridge.net/ which aims to promote high technology growth in the area between the two university towns, Buckinghamshire is building on its already-prosperous economy and attracting high value-added companies. Silverstone, the home of British motor sport www.silverstone-circuit.co.uk/html/ , Stoke Mandeville Hospital with its world renowned Spinal Injuries Unit www.spinal.org.uk/ and Pinewood www.pinewoodshepperton.com , the world famous centre for film-making represent the type of high tech activities for which the County is renown and represent the type of companies we are looking to attract and grow. 

Buckinghamshire is already one of the top business locations in Europe. It is home to many international companies such as GE Healthcare, Citrix, Volvo, McCormick, Martin Baker Aircraft, Ercol and Goodrich Power Systems, all of whom have chosen to locate here because of its natural environment, education, quality housing, diverse workforce and access to motorways, airports, railways and low unemployment. 

There is a thriving business community in Buckinghamshire. 

Buckinghamshire Economic Partnership organises the Buckinghamshire Business Leaders Network www.bucks-ep.co.uk/networking.asp which seeks to encourage networking among senior executives in the County. 

There are two active Chambers of Commerce, the Thames Valley Chamber www.thamesvalleychamber.co.uk covering the south of the County and Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber www.mk-chamber.co.uk for northern Buckinghamshire.
